Did you see the Westminster Dog Show??? Here is some of what happened.
Stump - the adorable, droopy-eyed spaniel who wowed the crowd at Westminister and became the oldest Best in Show winner in dog show history. Stump just celebrated his 10th birthday - that is 70 years old in human terms. Stump proved an old dog can still pull off some new tricks.
As you read his story, just a few years ago, it was even thought that Stump would be gone by now. He suffered from a mysterious sickness back in 2004 that caused him to be in the hospital for more than two weeks. It was thought that his days of showing were over. But in the past few weeks his owners and handlers thought about giving him another try. So, the 50 lb little spaniel came out of retirement to fulfill his dream of being the top dog of the world. What a great story!
Today, I was reading about another old fellow named Caleb that at the age of 80 was not giving up either. You can read his story in the book of Joshua chapter 14. When God gives us a dream, no matter how long it takes to fulfill that dream, God will always give us the patience and the strength to accomplish it. It still took Caleb to defeat some giants and take a mountain, but as you read - like Stump - he did it and was at the top of his world as well.
Today, what dream has God placed on your heart? What dream has he asked you to fulfill in your ministry for Him and to His Church, His People? Don't give up on it. Don't allow it to die. Don't put it aside. God is working, God is preparing the way. God is making things happen even when you may not be aware of them. Today, spend some time with God thinking about His dream, His vision that He has for you, for your family and for His Church. Then stay prepared for the day He tells you to go get your mountain. Stay committed, called and commissioned!
